Welcome to the Post-Apocalypse

Greetings, brave adventurers! I am Derimán Tejera Fumero, the mind behind Blastborn, and I’m thrilled to have you here! Welcome to Blastborn, or as I like to call it, simply "The Project"!

I’m immensely glad you’re here, exploring more about this exciting project that has occupied so much of my thoughts and energy for a long time. But before we dive into the depths of this world ravaged by war and radiation, let me tell you a bit about how it all began.

The vision for this TCG-style card game began taking shape in my mind 8 years ago—a post-apocalyptic world where survival and scarce resources are everything. Humans, mutants, and infected clash in epic battles, and you, yes you, can be a part of this story.

In Blastborn, players have the freedom to choose their path. You can join one of the three existing factions, or perhaps wait eagerly for the future additions I plan to include. The possibilities are as vast as the ruins of our world!

Want to play? Great! Simply head to the "Your Deck" section, choose your faction, customise your deck, or pick one of the preconfigured options we offer, download it, and print it at home. (And if you want to protect your cards, I highly recommend laminating them.)

Brief History of the Project

Let me take you on a journey through time, to the origins of Blastborn. This project didn’t come out of nowhere, oh no—it was the result of years of unbridled imagination and a touch of well-calculated madness.

Over 8 years ago, the seed of the idea began to sprout in my mind. A TCG-style card game with an out-of-the-ordinary theme? Absolutely! But it wasn’t until the chaos of the real world, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, made its presence felt that the idea took shape in a more insistent way. With works like *The Last of Us*, *World War Z*, and *Mad Max* dancing in my head since childhood, the post-apocalyptic theme latched onto me like a tick on a stray dog.

Version 1.0 of Blastborn began to take its final shape nearly 2 years ago. Between my work as an electrician, my family, and my attempts to learn programming to shift my career path, I found small oases of time to breathe life into this project that kept me sane amidst the chaos of daily life.

At first, Blastborn was just a spark in the dark, a solitary hobby that offered me a mental refuge. But as the game rules became clearer, the cards took shape, and the attributes were fine-tuned, I started to believe this could be more than a fleeting fantasy.

However, as often happens in the best stories, a new challenge stood in my way: the card designs. With a very limited budget and relying on my personal savings, I faced the lack of resources to hire talented artists, which nearly pushed me to despair. But then, like a ray of hope, the first image-generating artificial intelligences arrived. After countless trials and experiments, I managed to tame one of these mythical digital creatures to create the illustrations that would bring Blastborn to life. While they weren’t as perfect as those from a human artist, they were good enough to make my dream card game a reality.

And so, Blastborn was born—a project that defied the odds and proved that even in a post-apocalyptic world, dreams can come true. Welcome to this epic adventure!

Goals and Values

Look, this isn’t just about creating a card game; it’s about building a world—a community where everyone feels welcome and valued. You know what I mean? I want Blastborn to become a meeting point for players from all over the world, regardless of their background, their story, or their favourite faction.

And you know what else? It’s not just about winning. It’s about camaraderie, mutual respect, and having fun. I want our community to be a place where we can share ideas, laugh together, and create unforgettable memories.

So, here are our goals: we want Blastborn to become a benchmark in the world of card games. We want to innovate, surprise, and always stay one step ahead. And for that, we need your help. We want to hear your suggestions, your crazy ideas, and your wildest dreams for this project. We want you to be part of this adventure from beginning to end.

What do you think? Will you join us on this exciting journey? I hope so! Because together, we can achieve great things!

The Future of the Project

Ah, the future of Blastborn—how exciting it is to think about it! I have big plans for this game, and I can’t wait to share them with you! First of all, I want to add a wide range of new factions and subfactions to expand the diversity and strategies available to players. From nomadic desert warriors to enigmatic urban rebels, there will be something for everyone!

But that’s not all, oh no. I also intend to dive even deeper into the rich lore of Blastborn. From the intricate stories of its various locations to the surprising twists in its characters’ plots, I want to immerse players in a world that feels as real as it is devastating.

And what about a book? Would you like to dive even deeper into this post-apocalyptic world? If I ever manage to master my skills as a writer, I would love to capture this entire universe in a literary work that makes you feel like you’re living inside the game.

But wait, there’s more. I’m eager to implement new rules that not only expand the game’s strategy but also make players feel even more immersed in Blastborn’s post-apocalyptic world. From random events that shake up the battlefield to temporary alliances between factions, the possibilities are endless!

Ah, and I can’t forget the cherry on top: would you like to connect with players from all over the world and be part of a global community playing Blastborn digitally? This is something I’m incredibly excited about, and with the help of our community, I know we can move closer than ever to creating a platform where everyone can enjoy the game online!

The Author

Hello, I’m Derimán Tejera Fumero, born on March 3, 1992, in Spain. Professionally, I’ve worked in the field of electricity, specialising in renewable energies and industrial refrigeration, working with cold storage systems. I am now also on the journey to becoming a programmer, which is helping me explore new creative possibilities. However, I’ve always felt a special connection to board games and card games—a passion that has been with me since childhood.

Ever since I was a kid, playing board games has been more than just a hobby. I’ve always found something unique in the social aspect of these games: bringing friends and family together, sharing strategies, and experiencing that mix of fun and challenge. Titles like Catan, Dead of Winter, Hearthstone, and Magic: The Gathering not only entertained me but also inspired me to believe that, one day, I could create something just as special.

Over the years, I ventured into game design. One of my first projects was *Nomads*, a strategy game inspired by the Era of the Mongol Hordes. Although this project never advanced beyond the prototype phase, it gave me my first tools to continue on this path. However, *Blastborn* is entirely different; it’s the first project I’ve developed to the point of being able to share it with the world beyond my circle of friends and family.

My professional career has been an unexpected source of inspiration, not only for *Blastborn* but also for other games I’ve worked on. In some ways, what I’ve experienced working in the fields of electricity and renewable energies has influenced the creation of these worlds and game mechanics. The concept of managing limited resources and making strategic decisions under pressure is deeply reflected in *Blastborn*. Sometimes, these influences emerged in surprising and unplanned ways, but always with the intention of creating something unique.

*Blastborn* is the culmination of all this: a blend of strategy, creativity, and the desire to connect with others through gaming. I’m thrilled to finally share it with all of you and to watch the community grow around this vision.

Acknowledgements

I want to take this opportunity to thank my family and friends, who have not only supported me unconditionally in this project but also had the infinite patience to listen to me for hours as I talked about the game design, the rules, and every single card in *Blastborn*. This project wouldn’t have been possible without their constant support.

I also want to express my gratitude to all the influences that inspired the creation of *Blastborn*. From video games like *The Last of Us* and *They Are Billions*, to movies and series like *28 Days Later*, *28 Weeks Later*, and the *Metro 2033* saga, as well as many other post-apocalyptic worlds that have left their mark on me. Without them, the spark of creativity that brought this game to life wouldn’t have been the same. Thank you all for being part of this journey!
